About Greenlands Insurance Services
We’re a national retail broker specialising in agricultural, other commercial and personal insurance risks.
Our background
Established in 1998 by founder and managing director Roland Williams, we are proud to have established a lasting reputation within the agricultural and business communities for offering market-leading policies, competitive premiums, and a peerless approach to personal service.
Proudly independent and with a client base spanning Great Britain, our success draws from a comprehensive knowledge of the insurance products and services we provide, combined with access to an extensive panel of leading providers and several exclusive schemes.
Headquartered in the seaside and university town of Aberystwyth, our operations base is supported by an ever-growing network of regional sales agents – or Area Managers – who are ideally positioned throughout the country to meet the insurance needs of our clients.
An office in Denbigh complements this national presence, supported by satellite offices at prominent agricultural venues such as the Royal Welsh Showground in Builth Wells, Livestock Sales Market in Welshpool, Barbers Auctions in Market Drayton, and Gaerwen Auction Centre in Anglesey.

Founder and Managing Director
David Scourfield
Client Services Director
A farmer’s son with over 30 years of practical agricultural experience, David combines his rural roots with extensive insurance knowledge. His Greenlands Insurance career began in data input in 2002, progressing through client relationship and renewals management to Client Services Director. He supports colleagues and regional agents with complex insurance matters, particularly agricultural and commercial risks, and enjoys understanding each client’s circumstances to help find suitable cover.
Family, farming and community fill much of David’s time outside work, especially his pedigree Simmental cattle. A fluent Welsh speaker, he also enjoys rugby, food and travelling. As a member of a male voice choir that raises money for charity, he combines his love of singing with supporting worthwhile causes.
Anthony Percival
Projects Manager
Ilan Williams
Operations Director
Ilan joined Greenlands in 2019 following ten years in secondary education, including leadership and management roles. As Operations Director, he oversees the day-to-day running of the business, supporting the team, improving systems and helping Greenlands meet its regulatory responsibilities. With experience across agricultural, commercial and personal insurance, he enjoys finding practical solutions that help colleagues and clients alike.
Outside work, Ilan spends much of his time with his family or on the farm, where they keep pedigree sheep and Welsh Cobs. A former Design and Technology, ICT and Countryside Management teacher, he’s equally comfortable with a computer, a toolbox or a sheep. He also enjoys playing football, although recovery now takes a little longer!
Our Regional Insurance Agents
Jeremy Evans
Regional Insurance Agent
For Jeremy, the most enjoyable part of insurance is getting out onto farms and meeting farmers face to face. Looking after clients nationwide, he combines 30 years of insurance experience with 25 years in farming and agricultural contracting, bringing practical knowledge of agriculture to his conversations with farmers and smallholders.
You’re more likely to find Jeremy at Market Drayton or St Asaph markets than at an agricultural show. He also has an unusual claim to fame from his farming days: he says he was the first person in the country to own a round bale wrapper, beating the next arrival by about two weeks!
Mark Jones
Regional Insurance Agent
Working across Oswestry and Welshpool, Mark brings more than 30 years’ experience in agriculture and insurance to his role at Greenlands. He particularly enjoys meeting farmers and rural people, getting to know the clients he works with on both sides of the Welsh border — an area he affectionately describes as his patch for ‘international insurance sales’.
Oswestry Market on Wednesdays is a favourite meeting place for Mark, who appreciates its welcoming atmosphere and the opportunity for a chat. His agricultural credentials also include a City & Guilds in Pig Keeping, which he proudly describes as his ‘highest honour’!
Alan Owen
Regional Insurance Agent
A farmer’s son with hands-on experience in beef and sheep farming, Alan understands the livelihoods behind the policies he arranges. He ran his own insurance agency for 17 years before joining Greenlands five years ago. Working between Aberystwyth head office and his home in Mid Wales, he supports new business and looks after clients across Wales and the borders, getting to know them to recommend suitable cover.
You’ll often find Alan at Welshpool Market on Mondays, special sales in Welshpool and Brecon, or welcoming clients for a cuppa at the Royal Welsh Show. Away from work, he’s a keen rugby supporter, a self-described frustrated golfer and owner of a thoroughly spoilt black Labrador!
